I have been training horses for all different disciplines for many years (a lady never reveals her age but started training in my early teens). I have trained English and Western. I specialize in retraining OTTB's Have been trained for riding in most Western disciplines as a young child and then discovered English and went to Jumping and Dressage at that time but continue to ride and show in Western as well.
Every horse in for training is in their own individual pen that is done in Sucker Rod and Aircraft Cable. They have no direct contact with any other horse on the property as all pens have a alleyway between them. Also have one pen set up to hold stallions.
Large Round pen to work in for times when it is needed for ground work and early training before being ridden in the large outdoor arena area. Round pen is panels on the inside and the boards to keep area private so horses don't get distracted by other horses when working with them in early stages to allow for success.
Indoor Arean is not super fancy but is functional. It is an as of yet unheated Quoset that I have set up as an arena. This way I can continue to train through the winter and be out of the wind and the elements. The front has Panels and Stalls that use when I have more than 1 horse at a time in the arena to train.
There are 2 stalls in the arena for times when I bring more than 1 horse at a time into the arena to work with, horses that have been worked with or waiting to work will be placed in one of these large stalls that were stalls from a racetrack, so are very safe study stalls. I will never leave a horse tied up waiting to work.
My outdoor riding ring at this time still has a building in it that we plan to move and then put a sand footing in but at this point I just ride the horses around the building and it is working so far. the grass footing is still soft enough for low level jumping and as long as it is not raining the arena works good until I can get building moved.
All horses in for training are fed Soaked Alfalfa Cubes twice daily or when available Timothy or Alfalfa Hay from square bales. Additional feed must be supplied by owner or an extra charge for feed may be applied to training costs. Specialized feeding requirements can be discussed at time of inquiring or booking training.
If requested there is the availability of indoor board as well as services such as blanketing at an extra cost on a per horse/service basis.
All Clients are permitted, by appointment, to observe 2 training sessions per week with their horse. (By appointment only to insure I do not work the horse and the owner show up later in the day when I've already done the days lessons with your horse). Also included is 2 hours of instruction for the owner for every 30 days the horse is in training, it is just as important, maybe more so, that the owner understand and know how to work with their horse as it is for the horse to be trained. Additional lessons are available at an extra cost.
